Future Home of the 2nd Illinois Fisher House

The Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC), opened Oct. 1, 2010, and is the United States' first federal health care center that partners the United States Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense into a single, fully integrated federal health care facility. The need is so great for family support that the new Friends of Fisher House will be coming soon Spring 2024 

HOW YOUR MILITARY FAMILIES QUALIFY FOR THIS HUMANITARIAN PROGRAM

Criteria established by Hines VA Hospital allow for veterans’ families who live more than 50 miles from Hines Fisher House to access this humanitarian aid. Veterans can also stay at the Fisher House when accompanied by a family caregiver. To date, Hines Fisher House has hosted thousands of military families during loved ones hospitalization for injury, illness, disease and rehab. This is completely free of charge with the help of Friends of Fisher House-Illinois.

Topping off Ceremony

The final beam was placed on the entranceway of the 100th Fisher House located at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (Lovell FHCC) in North Chicago, IL during a “Topping Off” Ceremony.


This comfort home will support families receiving care at Lovell FHCC, which offers a wide range of health, support, and facility services for Veterans, military members and their families in northeastern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin.


Families stay at no-cost while their service member or Veteran is receiving medical care.
