A Fisher House is a “home away from home” where active military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is undergoing a medical crisis.

Every night, 1,100 military families are sleeping safely in a Fisher House.

To date 100 homes are located at major military and VA medical centers nationwide, close to the medical center or hospital they serve. Fisher Houses typically have 16-20 suites, with private bedrooms and baths. Families share common spaces such as fully-stocked kitchens, spacious dining rooms, modern laundry rooms, and inviting living rooms during their stay.

Friends of Fisher House-Illinois ensures that there is never a lodging fee, plus provides all food, beverages, and quality of life outings for families. Since inception, the nationwide Fisher House program has saved military and veterans’ families an estimated $650 million in out-of-pocket costs for lodging and transportation. It All Started Because of One Man.
